Yesterday everyone but Pickle had a MOMables lunch, which I didn't photograph... but I did take a pic of Pickle's peanut butter sandwich (say that 3 times fast!)... in fact I took before AND after pics. I left the crusts on to see if he'd eat them, which was kind of a gamble, because he might have refused his sandwich altogether... but I got lucky :) Sailor Boy warned me the other day about naming Pickle's sandwiches, saying he's going to want every sandwich named - and the man was right, as soon as I set the plate it in front of the boy, he asked "What's this lunch called?" I'd had my coffee that morning though, so I was able to think fast. "Twinkle, twinkle, you're my star!" "Me?" "Yep." "Yay!" And he accepted his crusted sandwich and began to eat it. But not the crusts. He left the crusts - completely intact :)
Oooh, I'm also super excited today because of all the love I've been getting from fans of my little lunch blog! BentOnBetterLunches got a glowing recommendation from Cooking My CSA, was added to the EasyLunchboxes Community page, and recipe creator & food writer Mandy Rivers of South Your Mouth asked me to collaborate with her to gather ideas for lunchbox notes! You can find some of them on her website :)
I love what you are doing here Cristy! I have a couple ideas you could try. Star fruit! Just slice it and eat it! The skin is edible and it is star-shaped when sliced! Also, we discovered dragon fruit here in Ga. Cut it in slices and the skin peels easily off! The flesh is white with lots of litte black seeds. Kind of asthetically pleasing. Dunno how easy it is to find those in the pacnorwest, but I thought they'd be fun additions to a bento!
ReplyDeleteI've seen start fruit but not sure if I've seen it around here... although I haven't been looking ... I have never even heard of dragon fruit! Thanks for the ideas!
