Back to School!

My school age sproutlets have their first day today. I made my 5th grader Beanstalk a special lunch even though he said he only wants regular lunches - it's not too cute, I think he'll be secretly pleased :)

Bella's going into 3rd grade. She's at a different school this year, she tested into the GATE class, my little smarty-pants. I'm so impressed by her, she has such an aptitude for math, which amazes me, it was always my weak subject. So big day for her - new school, new friends, more challenging curriculum - she'll do great though, she's very outgoing and confident. Pizza roll-ups for her, fruit leather, almonds, and Gala apples with a caramel dip (in the repurposed play-doh tub).

Pickle has his usual peanut butter sandwich, of course. He also got yogurt, and Oreos for a treat. He was so excited to go back to school, he was dressed and ready to go, shoes and backpack on, by 6:45 am - we don't leave the house until 8:40!

Bean Sprout and Baby Bird have butterfly pasta for their preschool lunches, with broccoli trees, grapes, baby carrots, ham butterflies for Sprout, and cheddar jack cheese for Birdie. They both have little containers of grated parmesan cheese to sprinkle on their pasta. I hope they don't make too much of a mess with that!

I had lunchbox notes printed but forgot to stick them in! Boo :( Tomorrow!

  1. What a great way to start off the school year! Great lunches packed with so much love :) On my 7th grader's first day yesterday, I packed her lunch but she didn't see/threw away the tiny note I had tucked inside by accident. She was so devastated when I asked her about it. She begged me for another one today :) It's the little things that matter most.

  2. Okay, the letter and number food shapes are absolutely awesome!! Do you think maybe you could make my lunch? You would have to say "Grade 17" but there should be room in the bento. ;)

  3. You have such clever lunches! I am loving those broccoli trees! They're cracking me up! Thanks a bunch for linking up to my party, and also for adding text for your link back.... I went in fixed the button to go where it supposed to. (Whew! Those buttons are tricky!) ;)

Here's the link to the post if you want to go back and grab the new code.

I just love these!!! I need to get a set of letter & number cutters. Are they Wilton?

  5. Thanks! Yes, they are from a Wilton set of 101 Cookie Cutters. I tried to post a link but it didn't work - but I have seen the set on Amazon and at Walmart :)

  6. They also have a huge set of cookie cutters at Bed, Bath & Beyond that I happened to see. I'm not sure of the brand, but probably Wilton. You could use a 20% coupon. ;)
