Fun with Chopsticks & FunBites!

Eating with chopsticks is currently all the rage with my girls, and of course Pickle wants to do what they are doing,  so yesterday I used my FunBites Cube it! to cut his peanut butter sandwich into perfect little bite-sized pieces, and served it to him with chopsticks. Fun!

The girls had muffin tin meals with sandwich cubes, cheese cubes & apple cubes, all cut with the FunBites Cube it!, plus diced pluots, mandarin oranges, and a fortune cookie:

The little girls are still learning to use chopsticks and aren't always successful at getting their food to their mouths. Sometimes they just stab the food with the chopstick end :) Whatever works! The sandwich and cheese cubes were really easy for Birdie to pick up though, since they weren't slippery at all. She was quite pleased with herself.

FunBites + chopsticks = lunchtime fun :)

I've finally perfected the knack of using the FunBites to cube peanut butter sandwiches without making a mess!  Here's how:
  1. I spread the peanut butter on the bottom slice of bread, but I don't top it with another slice.
  2. I place what will be the top slice on the counter and press the FunBites cutter into it - but I don't pop the cut bread pieces out, not yet.
  3. I lift the cutter with the bread pieces stuck in the cutter grid, and place it on top of the peanut buttered slice.
  4. I then press the FunBites cutter into the bottom slice and rock the cutter back and forth.  *This method also works for sandwich cutters, but for this step,  slide the cutter back & forth on a smooth surface until you can feel it's cut all the way through.
  5. Now I use the popper to pop out the perfect peanut butter sandwich cubes. No mess!  *If using a sandwich cutter, pop out with your fingers :)
Bite-size peanut butter sandwiches = no messy faces either!

Cube it for sure. Our 3 year old is celiac so I pack a lunch for her everyday. Sometimes I try to make her a gf-friendly version of what everyone else is eating at daycare, but every once in a while I like to send in something that makes the other kids say "oooohhhhh and ahhhhhh." I think it's super when the other kids want her lunch instead of what the daycare provides because hers looks cooler:) (PS: my apologies to the daycare workers who are trying to feed those kids - I know sometimes my coolness causes trouble;P). The cube it would most definitely up the "coolness" level of her lunch!

I love the cube one! My daughter will love to have a cool lunch pack..! pattym04@yahoo.com

  147. Oh, I love them both! But I suppose I like the cube it for the fact that there is less scraps, but then again, I'm the one that eats the scraps after I cut my kids' sandwiches- so I'd be starving myself. Which, in lieu of diet, might be the point. Cube It it is!

  149. I would totally use the cube one! My husband and I are starting to eat healthier and packing lunches comes right along with that. What a fun way to pack lunch!!! I'm trying to keep it interesting, we've each got over 100 lbs to lose, so it's going to be a long road. Thanks!

  150. I like the CubeIt the best. The idea of letting kids eat cubed up food with chopsticks is fantastic. I'm definitely going to try that with my son.
