I've wanted to make a Twinkie minion for the longest time, ever since my friend Peggy showed me a photo of a Twinkie minion cupcake, ages ago, maybe even years ago. But then I'd never remember to buy Twinkies... and then they were gone, off the market. Phooey! But, then they brought them back, and my friend felt sorry for my sproutlets never having tried them, so she got us some.. We had one cake left over so I split it into 2 minions for Bella & Sprout :)
The Twinkie minions have been all over Pinterest forever - but the sandwich - that design was copied from inspired by this brilliant & adorable bento by Glory's Mischief. As soon as I saw it I knew I was going to have to make my own version of it for my sproutlets - right down to also packing it in a PlanetBox Shuttle. It's so simple & perfect, I love it! ♥ And so did my girls :)
My minion sandwich is a cheese bagel with a bit trimmed off, topped with cheddar, a strip of fruit leather, & Monterey Jack features cut with various circle cookie cutters. And I finally made a Twinkie minion, with sugar eyes, chocolate sprinkles, & a cheese smile. Lastly, golden sunburst tomatoes & baby carrots, to hopefully balance out some of that sugar ;)

Some stuff used to make this lunch:
Oh my gosh! That's amazing! Love it! I'm going to have to attempt this! We can't eat Twinkies, so I'm going to have to figure out what else would work...
ReplyDeleteThis was probably their one & only Twinkie they'll get from me too, a friend bought them for us. I bet a corn dog would work, or you could even stick sugar eyes and sprinkle features on half a banana still in the peel.
DeleteI ended up using a cupcake - thanks for the inspiration! I posted mine here - http://bentos.agog.us/bentos/minions/
DeleteThat's so cute!<3
ReplyDeleteWay too cute!!
ReplyDeleteI love this lunch so much, I don't dare show it to Small Child, who would be in love and want one just like it every day!
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up at Fun Food Friday!
I make this minion meal every day for my autistic son's lunch. It's the only way he will stay calm and not attack his teacher. LOL. Thank you for making my son's meals Minionlicious!
