Pink Elephants Lunch Parade

A parade of pink elephant bento lunches went to school today :)

Bella's EasyLunchbox, below, contains dried strawberries, whole grain Fig Newtons, a tomato with a circus elephant pick, a cheese flatbread wrap, and cantaloupe chunks with an elephant fork:

OK so Pickle's elephant lunch isn't pink... but there are pink sprinkles on his yogurt! And orange ones too :) He has his usual peanut butter sandwiches, some string cheese with an elephant cupcake ring, & greek yogurt in a leak-proof lidded container that fits perfectly in that section!

Sprout's EasyLunchbox contains a stack of 3 elephant-stamped cheese sandwiches, fresh strawberries, carrots, & raisins with an elephant fork pick:

Cerise EasyLunchboxes Brights lids add a final touch of pink to the girls' bentos. Pickle got a Classic blue lid on his :)

All the elephant bento accessories came from BentoUSA & are linked to in the descriptions :) Some other stuff I used for these lunches:

Bento Kid : Mia Bella Made Lunches

In consideration of my being sick with a cold, my Bella made her own lunch yesterday & today. Such a sweet kid. She packs a pretty sweet lunch too :)

Yesterday, Sea Creatures:

Today, Panda Party!

Both EasyLunchboxes contain a whole grain energy bar, whole grain Fig Newtons, spiced almonds in EasyLunchboxes Mini Dippers, grape tomatoes, & cantaloupe. She chose all the ingredients & accessories herself,  I only took the photos. Fruit, veggie, protein & grain, well done my girlie!

How To Train Your Dragon

Birdie requested a How To Train Your Dragon lunch. I'm sick with a stuffy head cold that might've made it hard to be creative, but luckily, I happened to have some cupcake decorations that made it easy for me :)

Birdie's How To Train Your Dragon lunch contains:
  • Wowbutter heart-shaped "pillow sandwich", as she calls this type of sandwich made with a press & seal cutter,  decorated with a Toothless the Night Fury cupcake ring
  • red grapes - not sure she'll eat these, they are supposed to be seedless but some of them have wee pips in them
  • a mozzarella string cheese cut in thirds with a Hiccup the Viking cupcake ring around one piece
  • a hard-cooked "dragon egg" made by cracking the egg shell after cooking, and soaking it in water & food colouring (I left it overnight)
Birdie was so excited to take this lunch to preschool! It's one of her favourite movies. Her big sister Bella has some of the books,  I should make one for her too! But not today. Today she made her own - I'll post it tomorrow :)

Goldilocks & the Three Bears

Birdie likes eggs and since she's otherwise vegetarian these days I try to include one in every lunch. I hard-cook a bunch at a time, enough to fill all my egg molds. This morning, the last egg in the fridge was in a bear shaped mold and sitting next to a bowl of leftover spaghetti noodles;  how could I not think of making a Goldilocks & the Three Bears lunch?

Goldilocks is half a plum embellished with sugar eyes & mouth, a cantaloupe heart with bento pick hands, & spaghetti hair. The Three Bears are a hard-cooked egg bear,  a little sauce bottle with a bear face lid, filled with soy, and a little condiment cup with a bear face, filled with grated parmesan. That's what Birdie likes on her noodles, soy sauce and parmesan :)

Last Week's Lunches

I made a bunch more lunches than I posted last week. That's usually the case though, since I pack at least a dozen lunches a week - they just aren't all interesting enough to photograph or post. But I do like these ones, I just didn't get around to them until now :)

Bella's flatbread pizza sandwich looked too plain until I added a cheery pink raccoon waving Hi :) My alphabet picks are one of my bento essentials!

Sprout just wanted apples, Triscuits & cheese that day. I added baby carrots anyways & she did eat them :) Heart shapes made it pretty

This one was from Talk Like A Pirate Day. Not as fancy as my Dread Pirate Roberts, but the paper pirate flag pick in the Fig Newtons & the pirate cupcake ring around the string cheese still made it fun.  Arr!

Apple-shaped reusable ice cubes keep the string cheese extra cool.

Oh fishy, fishy, fishy, fish!

It was a lovely little lunch, and it went wherever we did go :)

The sproutlets had fishy lunches Friday!  Birdie's was in her Yumbox:
  • greek yogurt with fishy sprinkles
  • grapes & pluots
  • goldfish & startfish crackers
  • a fishy hard-cooked egg
  • apples & baby carrots
  • & a few gummy treats

Sprout's was in her Go Green Lunchbox:
Bella also took her Go Green with pretty much the same lunch, & Pickle's PB sandwiches were cut with the same fishy (or whale, if you like) Lunch Punch.

Beanstalk took his PlanetBox Rover with:
  • green grapes
  • Goldfish crackers & string cheese
  • Granny Smith apples
  • a peanut butter Clif Crunch granola bar
  • & a few gummy treats

Tuesday the 17th

It's Tuesday the 17th Psych-os!  So I baked some  (wait for it) ...
Boom... boom... boom... muffins!

Pineapple pear oatmeal muffins! Are you a fan of delicious flavour?
I'll share my secret ingredient... Don't tell the sproutlets, but I substitute fruit & veggie baby food puree for the oil in muffin recipes to add not only delicious flavour but a wee nutrition boost too  :)

Birdie's not a Psych fan (yet), being only 4 years old - but she can't read either, so the letters stuck in the muffin in her nibble tray might as well say anything - in fact, when I asked her what they spelled, she said "Lunch" :)

She also had some yogurt, cheddar, crackers, carrots, & pineapple chunks.
In her pineapple-shaped Zak! Dr. Sears Nibble Tray, of course!

Some of my favorite bento bloggers are Psych-os too!
Check out what they have to share this Tuesday the 17th!

89 days until Psych: The Musical!

Marvelous Things Will Happen!

It's Roald Dahl's birthday! We're big fans of the author's splendiferous works at our house. Sprout even wants to be Matilda for Hallowe'en this year :) But since I made Matilda book sandwiches last Roald Dahl Day, I decided to base this year's Dahl-icious lunches on other favourites...

In Sprout's James and the Giant Peach lunch:
  • a little peach cup of sliced cheddar, secured by Miss Spider
  • an EasyLunchboxes Mini Dipper* filled with magical glowing green "Crocodile Tongues" (chopped up gummi fruit snacks)
  • an Odwalla Kids bar (no significance other than she wanted one)
  • a stack of baby carrots held together by Mrs. Ladybug
  • a giant peach cup of strawberries & raspberries with the Earthworm being "buggy for books"
  • a blank Lunchbox Love note on which I've written a reminder: Marvelous Things Will Happen
*You can use dry erase markers to label or decorate both the EasyLunchboxes containers & the Mini Dippers!

Does this lunch look right to you? Or left?

In Bella's lunch, inspired by The BFG:

Have you made any scrumdiddlyumptious lunches or treats, today or any other day, that were inspired by Roald Dahl's books?
