Last week Birdie took a fun DIY pizzable lunch, which she loves. Today was her preschool's pizza day, where the school provides a delivery pizza lunch as a treat, and since she loves pizza, I thought she'd be thrilled! But, no, minutes before we had to leave, she asked, "What's my lunch?" and when I told her it was school pizza day, she was not pleased. "I want your kind of pizza lunch." Aw... ♥ So, here is another version of the DIY pizzables lunch, the quickly throw stuff in an EasyLunchbox in less than 3 minutes version :)
She has marinara sauce in a little lidded cup (I love the way Birdie says it, mara-mara sauce), a bagel thin cut in half for her crusts, & shredded cheese to top. On short notice just cheese will have to do :) No time for cute details. Luckily I already had honeydew melon chopped for lunches (I pre-chop fruit to save time) so we made it out the door with time to pause & take a picture even.

Yumbox DIY Pizzable!
Apparently enough time has gone by since our Momables Lunchbox Wars pizza lunch makeover for Birdie to forget that she doesn't like Lunchables, since she asked for one as we passed them in the grocery the other day. Even though we taste-tested several for the Lunchbox Wars series I did for Momables, they are still inexplicably drawn to those little boxed lunches - go figure. I reminded her that she doesn't like them and that I can make a better one. So we added the necessary ingredients to our list, and today, I did!
Birdie's fun DIY pizza lunch, or "pizzable", is packed in a Yumbox, which keeps all the ingredients, wet & dry, perfectly separate:
I also included a little spoon for spreading the sauce, & a Lunchbox Love note ♥ The other side of the note has a fun fact about belly button lint, which Birdie was talking about yesterday, so she'll like that :)

Happy Earth Day! I packed Bella's lunch in her PlanetBox today - it seemed fitting :) She has yogurt with blue, green, & chocolate sprinkles, honeydew melon balls, veggies with tree & leaf picks, & a Balance energy bar:
We were recently given a box of dark chocolate crunch Balance bars to try - which Bella proclaimed "Delicious!" Rich in both chocolate flavour and nutrition, Balance bar's new dark chocolate varieties are certified gluten-free and made with 100% Rainforest Alliance Certified™ cocoa, so I can feel good about giving them to her. Especially today, on Earth Day!
Balance is giving away a box of their Dark Chocolate Crunch bars to one lucky U.S. reader! Entering is easy via the widget below:

A Pair of Puzzle Lunches
April is Autism Awareness Month in America. I packed puzzle themed bentos for Sprout & Pickle, the only two sproutlets who went to school today.
Sprout took her Yumbox, packed with yogurt, strawberries, grapes, graham stars, & a puzzle piece sweet I made with candy melts & my puzzle mold. Puzzle piece picks decorate the fruit, & blue blossom cupcake sprinkles top the yogurt - I think they look very puzzle-piece-ish :)
Lunch wouldn't be complete without a Lunchbox Love note!
Pickle's puzzle lunch is packed in EasyLunchboxes. He has his usual peanut butter sandwich, cut with my Lunch Punch Match & Munch puzzle cutters, a Go-Gurt & cookie, plus some blue gelatin in a leak-proof cup with lid, that fits perfectly in the medium section.
Each Lunchbox Love for Kids volume includes a couple of cards with one blank side so you can write your own message, like I did here.

One Bunny Lunch
You'd think that with half the sproutlets out sick and only one lunch to pack that I could make it a fun one! Nope, with half the sproutlets out sick, I'm just too tired - I stuck a pink bunny pick in Sprout's ham and called it good :)
And I snapped the photo with my phone, at the kitchen table, didn't even bother picking out a piece of scrapbook paper for the photo background! But I think it's a decent lunch, even if there are no veggies in it (she nixed the carrots I was about to put in). She has a Goodbyn Bynto packed with ham, yogurt, grapes, a granola bar, & iced tea (with a GreenPaxx Cool Straw).
Some stuff I used to pack lunch:
I really like those silicone cups in the Goodbyn, they reach right to the top so even if it's carried sideways, nothing spills out.

World Autism Awareness Day
April is National Autism Awareness Month in the USA, & April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day. We're well aware of autism in our family; our Pickle is one of the 1 in 54 American boys on the autism spectrum.
If we were home with our sandwich cutters I'd make my little man a puzzle lunch, but we're in Beautiful British Columbia, Canada, for Spring Break, so it will have to wait. I do have all month to make an Autism Awareness Lunch :) And look at all these fun puzzle piece tools I could use when I do!
