A Relevant Elephant Lunch
August 12th was World Elephant Day! I'm behind in blogging (it's summertime... vacation!) but that's okay, all of August is Elephant Awareness Month, so this lunch is still relevant... << I so wanted to say relephant but it looks too funny! There I said it anyways ;)
Longtime readers know that my Birdie loves elephants. Click here to see all my sproutlets' elephant lunches. I hope that elephants will continue to be around for her to love for the rest of her life, but I'm worried they might not be! Because the world’s elephants are in trouble and need our help. My sweet Birdie gave some of her savings to help her beloved elephants ♥ and if everyone else who appreciates these amazing, intelligent, caring & feeling creatures does what they can to help, we can save them!

An Elephant Lunch Parade for World Elephant Day
Today is World Elephant Day! I packed Birdie's lunch in her Boon Trunk Snack Box. Nothing fancy - the box itself makes the lunch fun :)
The Boon Snack Box is quite roomy. The largest compartment is big enough for a juice pouch or small squeeze pouch. The lid is easy for a kid to take off, yet stays on securely when carried. It's pretty cute!
Birdie has loved elephants since she was a toddler - she even chose an elephant theme for her 3rd birthday party :) So, we have a lot of elephant stuff, including bento accessories, & I have made a lot of elephant lunches - so I'm marching out my favourites for World Elephant Day:
And this adorable bento is not mine, but I wish it was! I so love those elephant buns. It's by Eclectic Lamb, bento maker & bread artist extraordinaire!
She has mini croissants, grapes, honey ham rolls, a Babybel cheese, & a banana. I tucked some reusable ice cubes next to the ham to keep it extra chilly until lunch. And I used a mini cutter to cut a little birdie out of the Babybel wax, then stuck the cutout to the box, for an extra cute touch :)

I like the smiling blue elephant cupcake ring I put on the string cheese :)
Parent & baby elephant sandwich made with a Lunch Punch Critter Cutter embellished with sugar eyes. So sweet ;)
There's an elephant pick party in this lunch! I added a crown to the Lunch Punch sandwich - it reminds me of Babar & his family :)

Pink Elephants Lunch Parade
A parade of pink elephant bento lunches went to school today :)
Bella's EasyLunchbox, below, contains dried strawberries, whole grain Fig Newtons, a tomato with a circus elephant pick, a cheese flatbread wrap, and cantaloupe chunks with an elephant fork:
OK so Pickle's elephant lunch isn't pink... but there are pink sprinkles on his yogurt! And orange ones too :) He has his usual peanut butter sandwiches, some string cheese with an elephant cupcake ring, & greek yogurt in a leak-proof lidded container that fits perfectly in that section!
Sprout's EasyLunchbox contains a stack of 3 elephant-stamped cheese sandwiches, fresh strawberries, carrots, & raisins with an elephant fork pick:
Cerise EasyLunchboxes Brights lids add a final touch of pink to the girls' bentos. Pickle got a Classic blue lid on his :)

All the elephant bento accessories came from BentoUSA & are linked to in the descriptions :) Some other stuff I used for these lunches:

Flashback Friday : Lunch by Ludicrous Mama!
I snapped a photo of Birdie riding her "horsey" the other day, and looking at it today I was reminded of this bento my friend Ludicrous Mama made in my family's honour, after spending the day with us. Isn't that sweet? ♥
You have to visit Biting The Hand That Feeds You and read her entertaining post detailing each component of the bento & what it represents :)
Here's the photo of Birdie on her horsey. It's a bouncy horse, not a rocking horse, but close enough :) She's mad about horses lately. Her current favourite song is even "Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses". But she prefers the Garbage cover over the U2 original, or as she calls it, "the girl one".
Thanks for the lunchy love Ludicrous Mama!

Nobody had a bento lunch today.
Pickle had elephant family peanut butter sandwiches:
It's the last weekend of the summer! Hope you have a good one :)

It's Elephant Appreciation Day!
My little Birdie LOVES elephants. She even chose an elephant theme for her 3rd birthday party. Yet I only learned about Elephant Appreciation Day just last night, from my bento blogging friend Sarah of Zoe's Lunchbox. So, not having an elephant lunch planned, and possibly not having an opportunity to make one today, here's a collage of some past elephant lunches :
My friend Sarah DID make an elephant bento lunch,
and you can see it at Zoe's Lunchbox.
Happy Elephant Appreciation Day!

A Herd of Elephant Goodbyn Lunches
The girls got Goodbyns full of elephants today! Byntos for the 3 & 5 year olds Birdie & Sprout, and an original Goodbyn for 9 year old Bella. The Byntos hold just the right amount for the little girls and the lids are easy for them to put back on. The larger Goodbyn is a bit trickier with all it's compartments, it needs to be snapped down in multiple places - Bella can do it though.
Birdie is our little pachyderm lover and the reason we have so many elephant food picks :) She asked for a baby elephant peanut butter and Nutella sandwich with candy eyes. Yes, candy eyes. Many thanks to Ludicrous Mama of Biting the Hand That Feeds You for giving us all her artificially coloured edible decos when her family went dye-free :P And thank you Shannon of Molly's Lunchbox for the baby elephant cookie cutter ♥
Birdie also has cheese bites, red grapes, and a blueberry Minigo yogurt that came home with us from our camping trip in Canada - my cousin must have stowed some in our cooler, for her 1 year old - thanks Steph :) It's a perfect fit in the Bynto! I put a couple of reusable ice shapes next to it to keep it cool.
Sprout also has elephant sandwiches & cheese, but she wanted apples instead of a Minigo, and green grapes too. Both girls have cranberry juice to drink. Sprout's bottle has stickers on it too, on the other side :)
Bella has an elephant Queen peanut butter sandwich - I added a crown cut from the scraps of her little sisters' baby ones. She also has cheese & grapes, plus tomatoes, granola bar, and half a pluot.
The new Goodbyn Mix & Match sets are out now, soon Pickle will have one of those, yay! I do love that colourful little sandwich box we got from Sarah of Zoe's Lunchbox though - she sent Pickle several in different colours ♥

Lunchtime, chop chop!
We got a cute little chopsticks and cutlery set as a bonus gift in our last package from BentoUSA / All Things For Sale, (which Bella claimed), and the girls have been all about the chopsticks ever since. Every night they ask if supper is something they can eat with chopsticks - and they have such fun when they get to. I while back I read this blog post at Minivan Stiletto - Making Food Fun : Eating with Chopsticks - and I'd been meaning to make them fun chopstick lunches ever since, so today I did.
Sprout had a muffin tin meal full of little piggy picks - stuck in her carrots, grapes, and noodles - and a little piggy soy sauce bottle too. A smiling tree trunk pick turned her broccoli into a happy little tree:
Bella just wrapped up her Musical Theater Camp, so I added a touch of music & theater to her lunch, with a comedy & tragedy drink stirrer as a skewer for her ham & pineapple and a music note silicon baran separating it from her grapes. She also had some baby carrots, broccoli decorated with musical note picks, noodles, and a fortune cookie. Her child-size chopsticks fit perfectly in the cutlery compartment of her Laptop Lunches bento box.

Birdie's muffin tin featured her favourite animal - elephants. Even her chopsticks have elephants on them :) She had cherries instead of grapes though. And both girls had a fortune cookie.

Pickle's peanut butter sandwich was a pair of feet. They were kind of little, but he also had yogurt - and a fortune cookie. No fruit or veg though :( He won't eat applesauce anymore *sigh*
I had a fortune cookie too - it said:
Yay!

Birdie's Elephant Garden
I asked Birdie if she wanted to make her own muffin tin meal for lunch today, since Sprout did, for the Mom's Day Off blog hop - but she said "no thanks" ! Strange little girl. She's probably too tired, she was up several times throughout the night. I bet I'm more tired though! Between Birdie and Sprout, I've been up ALL night! Cross your fingers for us all to get a nap in today, that would be really nice :)
I made her muffin tin with pretty much the same things Sprout chose for her bento lunch for the blog hop, since they'll be eating together - grapes, celery, carrots, and a homemade Butternut Squash Oatmeal Ginger Coconut muffin. And she loves elephants, so I added some of those too.
Birdie also has a couple of things Sprout doesn't - banana, which Sprout dislikes, and freeze dried mixed fruit, which Sprout refused to try. No clue if Birdie will try it or not - I'm going to call it "fruit chips" and we'll just see :)
● ● ● ●
Beanstalk also has a muffin, in his LunchBots Quad, and grapes, some NatureBox Zingy Dried Currants, and a treat of Captain America fruit snacks - I'm hoping this reminds him to have a good week at school so he's allowed to see The Avengers this weekend!
Pickle requested a plain peanut butter sandwich, not creative, crusts on - no point in taking a picture of that! :)

Happy Birthday!
Today is my Pickle's 8th birthday! I made him a peanut butter sandwich cake:
It *just* fit in his sandwich box. The letters did get squished down a little bit when I put the lid on, but I took it off again to check and they are still readable: Happy Birthday :) And doesn't it look like a smile through the lid? The air bubbles in the bread are in just the right places!
Pickle was so excited to take Dr. Seuss pencils to school to share with his class in lieu of cupcakes! Just in time for Dr. Seuss Week too :)

AND
I forgot to post Birdie's birthday bento! She turned 3 just over a week ago:
Birdie loves elephants and asked for an elephant birthday so that was her party theme :) Here's her elephant birthday lunch:
She had elephant cookies, elephant shaped cheese embellished with sprinkles, strawberries and grapes with elephant picks, and a peanut butter and nutella birthday cake sandwich, made with a Lunch Punch from the Sweet set. The candles have gobs of peanut butter for flames :)
The elephant cookies sure are hard to make out! I really had to squint to be sure I had an elephant and not a buffalo - all the animal cookies just looked like pink and white blobs to me :)
Me and my silly 3 year old girl ♥ at her party at Grandma & Grandpa's:
And some of her elephant cupcakes:
Happy Birthdays Pickle & Birdie!
