MyPlate Full of Love

We had a busy start to our day. Bella's in a Military Appreciation musical performance today & this evening - that I knew - but she neglected to tell me until this morning that she needed to dress a certain way, so,  the time I would have spent making fun lunches was spent putting together a red, white & blue outfit for her instead - which meant impromptu laundry. We made it out the door on time, in full colour, but with rather plain lunches :)

Birdie had lunch at home on her Super Healthy Kids My Plate For Kids:

In the Grains section, she has a cheese sandwich, a heart-shaped hard-cooked egg for Protein, Carrots for Vegetables, and a few grapes & a strawberry in the Fruit section. She also asked for yogurt in the matching Dairy bowl. I topped it with a teensy strawberry heart ♥

Blossom Bento Twins

Yesterday Sprout asked me to make her a lunch just like her big sister Bella's. Sure, that makes things easier for me!

They had grapes, carrots, Fig Newtons, Craisins, & peanut butter sandwiches packed in EasyLunchboxes and several blossom shaped silicone cups.

Lunchbox Love Review + Three Little Birds Bento

I'm a little bit in love with this Three Little Birds bento I made for Birdie.

My youngest got her nickname from the sweet little chirping sound she likes to make ♥ And the sproutlets & I all love that Bob Marley song:
Rise up this mornin’,
Smiled with the risin’ sun,
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin’ sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin’, “This is my message to you-ou-ou”
I thought it was the perfect bento for my Lunchbox Love review!

Birdie's bento box is packed with apple wedges, a cheddar sun, yellow & white cheddar birds atop a sandwich made with the cheese scraps, carrots, tomatoes, strawberries & canteloupe. Pretend you don't notice the notes are backwards - I didn't until someone who can actually read music told me!
Each brightly coloured Lunchbox Love note card delivers a special message on one side, and either a fun fact or a silly joke on the other :)

And every card has a cute little bird too!

I love our Lunchbox Love notes. They're such a cute & easy way to add a little fun to my kidlet's school day. My 10 year old looks forwards to getting a Lunchbox Love note with her lunch, in fact, she tells me her whole table enjoys them, and even one of her school's "lunch ladies" often comes over to find out what trivia or joke was on that day's note card :)

Sometimes the sentiment or trivia even fits in with the lunch!

Friday's butterfly themed lunch contained cucumber :)

My World Animal Day bento had a crocodile theme:

This Lunchbox Love note was perfect for Earth Day!

I don't always make a creative lunch though, some days I just don't feel inspired, or I'm running late and don't have time to do much more than toss in some fruits, veggies, and a nutrition bar. Adding a Lunchbox Love note only takes a moment and makes even a plain lunch look special :)

Lunchbox Love Notes aren't just for kids! I often slip one into my husband's work lunch or jacket pocket! There are even card sets made especially for grown-up loved ones, co-workers, and friends :) I even tucked one into a care package full of snacks when my Sailor Boy was deployed:

The Lunchbox Love lasts beyond lunch :)

Once my Bella's read her Lunchbox Love note, she sometimes shares the love by giving it away to a school friend ♥ Sometimes she brings them home so I can reuse them for one of the other sproutlets' lunches. And sometimes she keeps them as a memento. They make great bookmarks!

Soup & Sassy

After all the candy she consumed Hallowe'en Night, Bella wanted a healthy lunch to take to school yesterday, and said tomato soup sounded good.

I also packed her a Sassy box full of veggies & crackers, and little cup of shredded cheddar to sprinkle on the hot soup in her Thermos Funtainer.
And of course, a Lunchbox Love note ♥ Her whole lunch table enjoys them :)

I'll be posting a Lunchbox Love review & giveaway on Monday!

Look, Horizon Organic milk boxes are a perfect fit in Sprout's Bynto! And there was just enough room to fit a string cheese in there too, perfect, the cold milk box would keep the cheese cool too :)

I was running behind by the time I packed Sprout's lunch so quickly cut her sandwich into hearts and added baby carrots & Hallowe'en Oreos. Pickle had Oreos in his lunch too, and a sandwich & yogurt, but there was no time for a pic of his. We were dragging our feet the morning after trick-or-treating!

Mustache Bento for Movember!

I mustache you not to laugh at my lunch...   Today's the first of November, the month that's come to be known as Movember <--- click if you don't know what I'm talking about :) So I packed my Sailor Boy a mustachioed lunch:
Mustache bento lunch

He's got cajun-spiced chicken tender mustaches on a bed of cheesy rice with broccoli & cauliflower, decorated with a whole bunch of tiny cheddar cheese mustaches. On the side, a heart-shaped egg embellished with a mustache pick I made myself *. And a handful of pistachios topped with a little mustache-shaped tin of mints he can keep at work. Mustachioed pistachios, heheh :)

DIY mustache bento picks
To make a mustache pick, trim a few bits off a bat pick & voilà!

UPDATE: Sailor Boy loved his lunch & sent me a pic if it on his desk :

He knows I'm rarely satisfied with pics taken at night in our poorly lit kitchen, so he sent me a daylight one.  Hmm, looking at both of them,  the one I took is not that bad! You can see the little cheddar mustaches better in his though :)
