Gluten Free Qwackers Crackers Giveaway!

A few weeks ago, I was looking around online for gluten-free snack options for a friend's little one and came across some adorable duck-shaped cheese crackers called Qwackers, from Gluten Free Kids.  I shared the discovery with my friend, but I also wrote to Gluten Free Kids myself and asked if they would be willing to send us a sample, and they generously sent us a whole bunch of snack size pouches of Qwackers! Thank you!

Even though none of my sproutlets are on a gluten-free diet,  I was excited to discover and eager to try the Qwackers, for several reasons:
  1. One of Beanstalk's best friends is on a gluten-free diet and I try to keep some snacks he can eat on hand for when he is over.
  2. I know many of my readers and friends have kidlets on gluten-free diets and are always on the look-out for kid-friendly gluten-free foods!
  3. I'm considering going gluten-free myself for a month next time Sailor Boy deploys. I've heard from so many people how much better they feel all around since giving up gluten and who knows, maybe it will help me with some of my own health issues. It can't hurt right?

As soon as our Qwackers arrived in the mail, I sent a pouch to my friend. She used some in an adorable bento lunch for her son - you can see it for yourself at What's In John's Lunchbag? And the very next time Beanstalk's gluten-free friend was over, I offered him some too. He'd never seen them before, and was pretty excited about them himself! "These are awesome! They taste just like I remember Cheez-it's tasting!"  I was so pleased that he liked them, and sent him home with another package for his mom to check out.

I made a muffin tin snack sampler for my sproutlets' taste-test:

They have mozzarella fish, cheddar birds, Qwackers crackers, Goldfish crackers, and organic white nectarines (they are soooo goood!) in a cute heart-shaped silicone muffin pan I got from Oriental Trading.

Everybody who tried the Qwackers liked them. Pickle declined to taste them but that was no surprise, he's rarely willing to try something new, but I always offer - sometimes he surprises us. Birdie loved them best of all, and had the last pouch all to herself later on in the day. She loved the cute duck shapes and quacked as she ate :)

Qwackers are Sproutlet Approved!

The kidlets liking them is all well and good, but they like some things I don't even consider food, so,  I also tasted the Qwackers myself ;)  Now, I don't think they taste just like any of the other well-known brands of non-gluten-free cheese crackers, but Beanstalk's little buddy was going from memory. They have their own flavour. They are a bit sweeter than the average cheese cracker, being made from rice flour, but the sweetness is cut by a yummy sharp cheddar zing, and just the right amount of salt. They taste good!

Cristi, I know you from the Bento Blog Network. My blog is gluten-free, so these caught my eye. But what I think is funnier, is that I just wrote a cartoon about Carrot Cake Quackers (little cupcake ducks) on my site. Funny connection.
