Season's Greetings!

I packed a festive wintery lunch for Pickle yesterday, inspired by the design on one of our new holiday yubo faceplates.

Yes, that's real fruit you see - Pickle asked for apples! I don't usually peel them for the other sproutlets, but like many kids with autism, Pickle has sensory issues, particularly with food texture, so I wasn't taking any chances - I peeled them completely & cut them into bite sized pieces.

Pickle's snow themed yubo lunchbox contains the appls with a snowflake pick, a snowflake frosted oatmeal muffin, peanut butter sandwich snowflakes, yogurt (coloured blue) with snow sprinkles, & a couple of his favourite chocolates, Hershey's Kisses.

Sadly, when I unpacked his lunchbox after school, the apples were still there, untouched. Ah well, the fact that my picky Pickle even asked for something new is still progress!

And I did have a good time making his lunch :)

Blossoms for Bella

It's really Friday today! If you read yesterday's post, you know what I'm talking about :) Today is pizza day at school, so I don't need to pack for the sproutlets. But here's a lovely lunch that somehow got left out last month:

Blossom PlanetBox Bento School Lunch

I remember packing this PlanetBox lunch for Bella - it wasn't that long ago - just can't remember why I never posted it... Anyways, she had a turkey & cheddar blossom sandwich, sunburst & grape tomatoes,  cantaloupe, puffed rice cakes, fig newtons, & butterfly fruit gummies, embellished with blossom & heart bento picks. A very pretty lunch!

Late Lunches

I'm a day behind in posts! I wasn't feeling well yesterday so totally slacked off on all my responsibilites, and when Sailor Boy's away there's no one to pick up my slack,  boo hoo.  So now I've got to catch up on yesterday's laundry and last night's dishes (yuck)...  so that I can get to today's!

Here are yesterday's lunches for Bella & Pickle:

Cucumber wedges & carrots, a ham & cheese panda pocket sandwich, dried strawberries, yogurt pretzels, whole wheat fig newtons, & spiced almonds.

Peanut butter puzzle sandwich (& yogurt, not shown).

There are no photos of today's lunch. I got my days mixed up and looked at Friday's menu on the school lunch calendar, which said pizza, and the sproutlets like pizza...  then on the way out the door Bella asked "Mummy, isn't today Thursday?" "Is it?" I asked myself... Uh-oh! It is! The school lunch is bean burritos, they won't eat those! So it was a mad rush to throw something together and no time for cute lunches or photos of not cute lunches :)

I guess it's just as well I had yesterday's lunch to post today!

Lucky Me!

When I came across the Lunchbox Love note shown below I knew it had to go in my Beanstalk's lunch - his name is Jack :) I decided to use my new 4 leafed clover pocket sandwich press to make him a "lucky to have you" lunch.

Beanstalk doesn't like me to get too cute with his lunches, but I pushed my luck with one little panda pick. Pandas are a symbol of good luck & happiness, and I feel very fortunate & happy to have him for a son  ♥

His Laptop Lunches bento box contains:
  • a 4 leafed clover peanut butter pocket sandwich
  • spiced almonds
  • yogurt raisins
  • green grapes
  • a checkered apple half
  • 2 pandan wafer straws
I made Sprout a panda bento in a Japanese bento box:

Her bento box contains:
  • a panda peanut butter pocket sandwich
  • green grapes
  • grape tomatoes
  • baby carrots (underneath)
  • a string cheese (not shown)
I had planned to make panda lunches for Bella & Pickle as well but they opted for the school's pancake breakfast-for-lunch. Lucky me again, less to do :)

It's A Snow Day!

Not a real snow day, just in the sproutlets' lunchboxes :)

And, near tragedy this morning, my camera battery was dead! Okay, so not really a tragedy, but for a moment it felt that way, since I had packed these cute snowflake lunches - then I remembered my phone is a camera too :)

Bella took an EasyLunchbox full of snowflakes shaped Ritz crackers, cheddar cheese, ham & cheddar sandwiches, cucumber slices, and grape tomatoes speared with a snowflake cupcake pick. Sprout took a similar lunch, just less of it, and I forgot to take a pic.

Pickle took a yubo lunchbox packed with his usual peanut butter sandwiches & yogurt. I coloured one yogurt light blue so the snowflake sprinkles would show up, and sprinkled shimmery sprinkles on the other.

Beanstalk wanted ramen soup. I strained the broth into his Thermos and packed the noodles in the glass dish of his Planetbox Launch - that way they don't get soggy, and he can either add the broth to the noodles or vice versa. He also has apples, Ritz crackers, and holiday shaped fruit snacks (oops, I meant to include some of those in the other sproutlets' lunches but forgot).

It's lunchtime now, and Birdie asked for a snowflake lunch as well. I made her a muffin tin meal. She had Ritz crackers, banana slices speared with a Clifford cupcake pick, a yogurt pretzel, cheese snowflakes, grapes on snowflake cupcake picks, and blue yogurt with snowflake sprinkles.

I added the Clifford pick because we just downloaded the Scholastic Storia app for the iPad this morning, and the first book I read with Birdie was Clifford's First Snow Day.  I only bought the one for now though, in case I win the fabulous 20 Storia eBook Giveaway over at What's in Our Lunch Bags?
