The Hobbit Bento: An Unexpected Lunch

The Hobbit movie is in theatres today!  My biggest boy can't wait to see it, so I made him a Hobbit Movie Night bento lunch!

The Hobbit Bento : An Unexpectedl Lunch

So how is this an unexpected lunch? Well, I hadn't even planned on participating in the Hobbit blog hop since Beanstalk hasn't read the book yet, then I thought, why not just make it with a movie theme? So what movie food could I put in a lunch... popcorn & raisinets! Then I remembered the movie night cupcake picks a friend gave me...  and it all just came together :)

The Hobbit Bento : An Unexpectedl Lunch

In Beanstalk's Laptop Lunches bento box he has ● a Hobbit door peanut butter pocket sandwich with a raisinet doorknob ● grapes in a Giant Spider cup ● raisinets in a little mushroom cup (Hobbits love mushrooms) ● white cheddar popcorn ● & the One Ring in an apple with wavy peel River Anduin.

The Hobbit Bento : An Unexpectedl Lunch

I think this Hobbit bento will be an unexpected lunch for Beanstalk too! I'm not sure he'll get many of the references even though he watched the Lord of the Rings movies with Sailor Boy - except the ring & the Hobbit Hole door, those one's are pretty obvious :)

Sadly, the Hobbit Hop is broken, so clicking on the Hobbit Hole won't take you anywhere.  But I like the graphic so I'll leave it here :)

Some stuff I used in this lunch:

  10. And the One Ring! If he saw the other movies, he should catch that reference... I think they may have mentioned it once or twice...
And the giant spider... He might think it was Shelob though.

I love your blogs. Thank you for sharing your ideas to us mommies. One quick question which am sure a lot of people have asked you already, what do you use to prevent your cut apples from browning?

    1. Thanks Ellen!

I guest blogged about this very topic over at the Easylunchboxes blog - check out my post there: 6 Ways To Stop Fruit From Browning

Usually I use Fruit Fresh - I was out today and used lemon juice. My boy ate it all so it must have worked, he's picky and will leave it of it doesn't look appealing :)
