The Angels Have The Lunch Box

Pickle's ABA tutor comes to our house for a few hours a day, and one of the ways they work on appropriate play & social skills is by playing games.  This week they've been playing Yahtzee, the Doctor Who Edition!  While Pickle was poking through my sandwich & cookie cutters choosing one for his daily peanut butter sandwich, he spotted my TARDIS cutter and asked why I never make him a Doctor Who lunch.  So I did.  Don't blink!

If you're unfamiliar with the reference,  it's a Doctor Who thing :)  

I made Bella a Whovian bento as well,  and I had a little more fun with hers...  She also got a TARDIS & Weeping Angel sandwich,  plus baby carrots,  Rainier cherries,  honeydew melon with alphabet picks,  jelly babies,  & a jammie dodger biscuit,  packed in EasyLunchboxes:

I used my TARDIS & Weeping Angel cookie cutter set from the exclusive Doctor Who range at Lakeland in the UK, which also includes Cyberman & K-9 and Dalek & Sontaran sets :)  If you're in the US you can find a similar cookie cutter set at ThinkGeek:

There's no Weeping Angel in the ThinkGeek set, but it has Eleven's sonic screwdriver. And perhaps that's for the best, since they say the image of an Angel becomes an Angel... which is why as soon as Bella opened her EasyLunchbox, she snatched up the Angel sandwich and bit it's head off :)

A Pair of Bears

The school hot lunch today is breakfast: pancakes, waffles, yogurt, fruit ...
and if you follow my blog you know that's one of the sproutlets favourites. Only Pickle wanted to take lunch, his usual peanut butter sandwich & yogurt.

I made him a pair of peanut butter sandwich bears with my CuteZCute Animal Friends Food Cutter & Stamp. I made one bear's face using the cutter side, and the other bear using the stamp. Aren't they cute? :)

Cute & hasty, plain but tasty :)

Bella's lunch has a few cute details inspired by the faceplate of her yubo lunchbox - blossom & star bento picks through the cheese & tomatoes, and silicone cups that match the fairies' colours separating them from the carrots & cucumbers. A fairy sticker decorates the bottom of her jell-o cup :) This was a hastily made lunch with nothing particularly creative about it yet all 3 girls oohed when they saw it ♥

To make up for amping up the cute factor on Beanstalk's Earth Day lunch, I kept the next one plain & simple. He asked for apples & a Clif bar in his Laptop Lunch and I added Veggie Sticks & grapes. "Don't make it cute!" he reminded me grumpily, and just for that I added a Lunchbox Love note :)

Pickle's peanut butter sandwich was going to be a tic tac toe, before I realized that would mean nothing to him since he's not familiar with the game! He likes squares though, so I'm sure he was happy enough with it as is.

Blossoms & Blox

Spring Break's over, back to school. It's really feeling like Spring on Whidbey Island now. Our front yard & neighbourhood streets are decorated with cherry blossoms :) Bella & Sprout have blossoms in their lunchboxes too:

Bella's Laptop Lunches bento box contains:

• turkey & cheddar flatbread wrap
• carrots & cucumbers
• whole grain Fig Newtons
• spiced almonds
• sunburst & grape tomatoes

Sprout's Goodbyn Bynto contains:

• apple wedges
• mozzarella string cheese (under the apples)
• sandwich blossoms
• baby carrots

Pickle's new favourite containers are these Rubbermaid LunchBlox. He likes how they stack uniformly and snap together - even the ice pack (not shown) snaps to the bottom of the containers, or to the lid. 

Pickle wanted a "regular" (not creative) lunch today, so he has peanut butter sandwich, yogurt & 2 cookies. Monday's are early release days so he didn't need anything for afternoon snack.
