Don't Blink! A Doctor Who Christmas Lunch

It's Christmas Day! It's almost time for the Doctor Who Christmas Special! My Sprout requested a Doctor Who Weeping Angel Christmas lunch last week. A girl after my own heart :) I packed it in our PlanetBox Shuttle:

Sprout loves the Weeping Angels. I made this faux stone angel tree topper last year, and she's always wanting to carry it around & play with it!

Sprout's lunch was a satsuma orange (the Doctor once saved the planet with a satsuma), mystic grapes, a gummy wreath, & a Weeping Angel cheese sandwich. A Lunchbox Love for Christmas card completed the theme :)

I originally placed the wreath atop the grapes before closing the Shuttle, but when I discovered it would stick to the lid, I flipped it over so that when she opened the box it would be face up (more like the first photo shows).

To make the Weeping Angel sandwich, I used this cookie cutter & stamp from Lakeland's Doctor Who range:

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Here are a few school lunches that never got blogged last week.

Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer Bagel:

Rudolph was a cheese sandwich mini bagel with broken pretzel antlers, a grape tomato nose, & cheese eyes stuck in with bento picks. I realized after lunch was long gone that I never gave him a mouth! Poor Rudolph, no mouth & no mention in The Night Before Christmas poem...

Playful pandas frolic in this festive red & green EasyLunchbox:

Lunch was cucumber & tomato "holly & berries", whole grain Fig Newtons, a Babybel cheese, granola bar, & a bunch of grapes in a tree shaped silicone baking mold, with a Merry Christmas cupcake pick stuck in one.

This jolly Planet Box was for Beanstalk. It's still quite dark when I take him to school, not great for taking photos, but it's not every day he lets me make him a cute lunch, so I snapped this one at the last minute, by the light of our front porch Christmas lights. You can see them reflected in the metal lunchbox :)

Lunch was apple wedges, a little Lego box filled with almonds, ham skewered on a snowflake cocktail stirrer, a Santa stamped peanut butter pocket sandwich, holiday Goldfish crackers, a couple of holiday Oreos, & a chocolate treat. And a Lunchbox Love note - that wasn't printed blurry - that's my fault :) Low light means a slow shutter speed - and cold mornings mean shivering hands - which adds up to blurry photos - sorry!

That just about wraps up this year's Christmas lunches! I did make one more, but it's still on the camera, which is downstairs with the sproutlets & Sailor Boy. I'm upstairs with the paper & presents :)  If I get a chance I'll post it later, but right now I've got some gifts to wrap...

Merry Christmas to All!

Birdie has a merry Santa Claus lunch packed in her pomme green Yumbox:

Lunch is raspberries topped with a cheese snowflake, yogurt with candy cane sprinkles, grapes & striped apples, a Santa Claus cheese sandwich, and a square hard-cooked egg with a bow pick, like a little present :) Oh, and some mint chocolate chips. And a spork, & a Lunchbox Love note ♥

Christmas Lunches, Plain & Simple

Pickle is kind of over the creative sandwiches lately. He says he does like them, he just likes plain better, because he likes the crusts too. Fine with me!

My little creature of habit has had nearly the same thing every day this week: a peanut butter sandwich, yogurt, & 2 cookies. I added variety with cupcake sprinkles, colourful accessories, & Lunchbox Love notes :)

I did get a wee bit creative with this one though... after all, what better time to deck a lunch than Christmas?! I used a cookie cutter to stamp Santa on his sandwich, and the sprinkles on his yogurt are tiny candy canes!

I also decorated the top oatmeal cookie with icing & coloured sugar sprinkles. No, that's not a botched snowflake that looks like a spider web, it is a spider web, inspired by the fun fact on his Lunchbox Love note :)

Pickle often doesn't come home with everything he left for school with, so I've been packing his lunch in Ziploc bento boxes lately, since I'm not sad if he loses one...  like I was when he lost some of our EasyLunchboxes... *sniff*

Jolly Holiday Hop - Go Green Trees

If you're a regular reader you know that I like to add a Lunchbox Love note to my sproutlets' lunches, and often choose a card that goes with the lunch somehow... but sometimes, the Lunchbox Love note is actually the inspiration for the lunch - like this card featuring a bit of trivia about Christmas trees:

No, I did not know that, and I doubt Sprout does either :) That fun fact inspired her Christmas trees & apples themed Go Green Lunch Box:

The Nutella sandwich tree "lights" are candy-coated sunflower seeds, stuck on with dabs of Nutella. That took a lot longer than I anticipated, I kept dropping them! But I love how the "apple tree" turned out , and it was easy :)

She also has raspberries, a Babybel cheese round "apple" with a leaf pick, & snowflake Ritz crackers. Hidden underneath the cheese is a surprise panda box filled with mint chocolate chips.

Bella has a Christmas tree fact in her Go Green Lunch Box as well ... Did you know that Christmas tree lights were invented by a telephone company employee? ...  Her Grandpa is a retired telephone company employee so she may find that interesting :)

Speaking of her Grandpa, Bella has him to thank for the All-Dressed potato chips in her lunch - he visited last weekend & brought a bag from Canada :) Ketchup chips too, Beanstalk likes those. Besides the chips, she has cocktail tomatoes with a tree pick, mini pepper "Christmas lights", & dried strawberries in a star cup. Beneath the the star is an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie.
