iPeanut Butter Sandwich

Ever unpack your groceries to find the bagger was less than skilled at their job? It seems the one who bagged ours could use a refresher on bread placement. So, we now have squished bread, that our sandwich cutters won't fit. Rectangular bread...
hey, it's an opportunity to be creative, right?

Pickle adores his iPod Touch, so I thought he would get a kick out of an edible one:

He did :)

Under The Sea Lunch Adventure

Under the Sea themed muffin tin meal

It's Muffin Tin Monday! I have muffin tins this week, I bought some nice new silicone ones. Justified them to the hubby with a list of other uses for them - he really liked the idea of melting all the broken crayon bits into new shaped crayons, he can't stand all the little crayon bits we find on the floor after Baby Bird has been colouring - she likes to break them for fun :)

Today's "under the sea" themed lunch was a bit of an adventure for me, as I've never coloured pasta before so I wasn't sure how it would turn out - would the blue food colouring + the yellowish pasta = bluish or greenish noodles? Either way would work - blue would be the ocean, green would be seaweed. It came out a pretty aquamarine :) Along with the ramen noodle waves, lunch contained turkey "octodogs", canteloupe starfish, a clownfish gummy on a bed of sliced grape sea urchins, and "baby" goldfish crackers, topped with a cheddar cheese "mama" fish. My little Bird loves anything "mama & baby".

The first thing they both ate was the gummy clownfish of course, then Sprout bit the head off the octodog while Birdie dove into the waves. Beanstalk & Bella opted for a regular ramen noodle soup & crackers lunch, and Pickle had his usual - which I will make a separate post about after I get dinner started :)

Lunch Punches!

New toys were delivered today! Lunch punches, so I can make Pickle's peanut butter sandwiches more fun - for both of us :) We got the fairytale themed Sand*wishes* and puzzle piece Match & Munch sets. I can think of so many uses for these, beyond sandwiches, whee! Am I a little too excited about sandwich cutters? Maybe... but that's because my Pickle is! Just look how happy he is picking out his favourite shapes, he's actually looking forward to his next peanut butter sandwich:

This afternoon as I cut & arranged his sandwich to form his initials, I wondered how many different ways I've served my picky boy his plain old peanut butter... and how many more ways I could in the future...
So, from now on I'm tagging them and we'll find out!
101 is my goal - I just think it would be fun to say I know 101 ways to serve peanut butter sandwiches :) Wish me luck!

T.G.I.F.D !

Thank Goodness It's Fry Day!

Hooray, it's Friday, and I got to use the idea I had last week but didn't have all the ingredients for! The girls squealed and laughed when I served them their plates of "fries":

Our Fry Day lunch consisted of pita pockets full of monterey jack, cheddar, mozzarella, ham, and apple "fries". Easy, fun, and very portable. They got a kick out of holding the pita pockets in their hands, then getting to eat them too :) In a way you actually could call it fast food - I had all the ingredients sliced ahead of time, so when the girls wanted lunch, I only had to fill the pockets!

Tasty Rainbows

Today Beanstalk had a playdate, so I only had 4 lunches to make. I bought lots of fresh fruit yesterday, and the rainbow of colours in the fridge inspired me to arrange things rainbow-fashion in the lunchboxes too :)

Here's Bella's fruit & veggie rainbow over a carrots in foil muffin cup pot of gold, with mozzarella & bagel clouds on the side:

Bean Sprout & Baby Bird had theirs in matching pink sandwich boxes, which they loved. They had strawberries instead of tomatoes. Bella doesn't like strawberries! Here is one of their all-fruit rainbow over a mozzarella pot of gold bentos. Cheddar would have made a better gold, but, I already had the mozza sliced :)

Pickle said he wanted a bento lunchbox too (he meant an Easy Lunchbox like Bella's, he actually doesn't like his foods to touch) and wanted me to take a picture of it, so here is his ho-hum blah peanut butter sandwich, vanilla yogurt and oatmeal cookie lunch:

Everyone was pleased with their lunch and ate pretty much everything - hooray!
